These include schools, clinics medical colleges, environmental and self-help schemes. ROKPA is a Tibetan word meaning help. Problem: In the nomadic and farming regions of North Eastern Tibet, many families face acute medical and health problems. No health facilities exist in their immediate vicinity, and a day's travel or more is usually required to the nearest town. Die meist verbreiteten Krankheiten in Tibet sind:….
Solution: In many instances where ROKPA has established schools, the need for clinics was also seen. So in these cases, a building was constructed to house both a school and clinic. This means that construction costs are saved, and the community benefits by having both services und one rood. In other instances, clinics have been established within monasteries, these usually being central to a community with a village nearby.

Problem: The rural population has practically no schools. In the past, education was the responsibility of the monastery, with a fifth of the male population becoming monks. Since the demise of the monasteries, the people have been too poor to set up schools, and where some do exist, the quality of teaching is very low, there has been too little specialised training for so long.
Solution: Children from the most poor Tibetan nomadic and farming families are selected, especially orphans, and those single parent families, with an emphasis on the choice of girls. After completing their primary education paid by ROKPA the children take an entrance examination for the local government secondary school. Within the broad category of secondary and higher education, ROKPA channels funds to various institutions covering the full range of needs. These include technical schools, as well as teacher training colleges, and various colleges and universities at monastic centres.
